Tuning
Standard piano tuning: $135
Pitch Correction: $60 additional
All tuning appointments are booked for two hours. This ensures enough time for a tuning and a pitch correction if necessary.
Pitch corrections may be necessary if the piano is very out of tune due to not having been tuned for an extensive period of time, if the instrument has been moved, or if the instrument has been subjected to significant humidity changes.
Manufacturers recommend pianos be tuned about every six months. If your piano only needs to be tuned once yearly, it's best to have it tuned around the same time each year.
Regulation
Regulating mechanisms inside the piano.
Pianos are made of thousands of moving, interacting parts. Maintenance of these parts and interactions is necessary to ensure ease of playing and a prolonged life for the piano. If your piano feels hard to play, difficult to control the volume, if it feels heavy or sluggish or otherwise not how you want, consider asking about a regulation!
Repairs
Repairing broken parts.
Parts inside the piano break due to wear from age and use, and for a multitude of other reasons. Thankfully, they can be repaired - and if they can't be repaired, they can oftentimes be replaced.
Refurbishing
Sprucing up worn-out actions.
Touching up already existing parts, such as filing hammers to get rid of wear caused by use, and replacing things like worn felt and cloth pieces, can bring new life to your instrument.
Voicing
Changing the tone of the piano.
If your piano sounds too bright or too mellow for your ears, there are things we can do to make changes to the piano's tone to better suit your tastes.
Cleaning
Thorough interior and exterior cleaning - including case polishing.
Pianos can get extremely dirty, especially on the inside. Sometimes a thorough cleaning is needed - whether for sanitary reasons, for function, or for aesthetics, this is a service I provide.
Evaluations
A thorough report on the current condition of an instrument.
Whether you've recently acquired a piano, have had one for a long time, or would like a piano looked at prior to you purchasing it to find out all the details of its condition, I can visit the instrument and write up a thorough condition report for you.
Humidity Control
Piano Life Saver Dampp-Chaser System installations by a Certified Installer.
Humidity control is a very important factor when it comes to maintaining the quality and prolonging the life of your instrument. As pianos are made largely of wood, humidity changes can have adverse effects on functionality and performance, and can potentially cause damage
to soundboards, ribs, bridges, and other very
important components. Humidity is also a determining
factor in how long tunings last. Humidity control is
very important, and can be difficult to maintain,
especially here in the Midwest. As a Certified Installer
of the Piano Life Saver System, I can install a
Dampp-Chaser system in your piano to help
maintain a healthy level of humidity right inside the piano itself.
